THREE COAST AVIATION
Toronto Pearson Airport
As an airline pilot based out of Toronto I spend a lot of time at Pearson, but I rarely do I take advantage of the opportunity to photograph from either airside or outside. Unfortunately, commercial aviation doesn't interest me the way that military aircraft do. Having said that, there are certain occasions that I find myself photographing around Pearson, such as during the Canadian International Air Show when the performers stage out of the airport or when the largest aircraft in the world, the Antonov An-225, visits as it did in May of 2020. It is also very convenient to have such a busy airport located nearby when camera equipment needs to be tested and photography skills need to be improved ahead of a trip. Pearson is fairly friendly for spotters as there are plenty of unique vantage points for most of the runways and local authorities don't seem to mind visitors as long as they behave respectfully.
